prankcallMy boyfriend’s dad is a retired undercover police detective and he has lots of funny gadgets for men that he used to use for covert operations. One day when my boyfriend and I were just hanging out we got a bored and decided to look through his dad’s old stuff. We came across a voice changer and started playing around with it.

We thought it was so cool to make our voices sound different and we wanted to test it out to see if people could recognize us. It was his idea to make some prank calls. The first call we made was to one of his buddies, and low and behold he didn’t recognize our voices. We never got to make anymore calls because his dad walked in on the end of the first one. Needless to say, he didn’t approve.

twist-and-spoutMy six-year-old son used to want me to do everything for him—from getting him dressed in the morning to blowing his nose. After his last birthday, however, he has developed a desire for independence. He now insists on doing things for himself and often gets livid if you offer assistance.

While my husband and I don’t mind allowing him some freedom, there are certain tasks that we like to have some supervision over. Last week, for example, he tried to pour himself a glass of juice only to have the two-liter container slip from his hands and flood the kitchen with sugary liquid. After this little debacle, we invested in a twist and spout to give him more control when he pours.

One of the old adages among people of faith is that they see God at work in their lives. Whether it be in nature or in random acts of kindness from their fellow man, these people are constantly finding ways to reaffirm there faith. Others try to find more concrete evidence of a higher power, looking for religious images in everyday objects.

Some people have claimed to see chips or cereal shaped in the image of a God, Jesus or some other Biblical character. There have even been claims that the spots on certain cows are in the image of Jesus. My mother is one of those people who are constantly looking for signs from above, so to freak her out a little bit I decided to imprint her breakfast last Sunday with the Holy Toast stamp—she almost fainted when she saw it.

Every age group has its own preferences. With children, what a toddler wants would naturally be very different from a teenager’s wish list. If you are finding it hard looking for unique teen gifts for a young adult who’s celebrating a birthday or other special milestone, be sure to research the ongoing trends.

If your gift recipient happens to love reading, there are a wide variety of books that would entice him or her to delve into their stories. For a tech-savvy celebrant, an mp3 player or digital camera may be more appreciated. You can also buy accessories for existing gadgets, such as memory cards with higher capacities or fancy bags and cases to carry valuable electronic toys in.
